Guide · Selling without a site
Taking payments without a website
5 minute read
Most Saudi service businesses sell in conversations: WhatsApp, Instagram, a phone call, a visit. You do not need to build an online store to accept cards — you need a payment page per order, and one ledger holding what was paid and what was not.
Why a store does not always solve it
An online store assumes the customer browses, chooses and buys alone. But a designer agrees measurements in a chat, a photographer prices the session after hearing the details, and an academy holds a seat after a call. In these businesses the sale happens before the payment, and what is missing is a clean way to collect, not a shopfront.
Building a store for that means maintaining a catalogue nobody uses, while the real problem is that collection runs on bank transfers, receipt screenshots and a manual reconciliation at month end.
The alternative: a payment page per order
Instead of a permanent product page, you create a payment page for this order: the agreed amount, a description the customer understands, and a link you send in the same conversation. They pay with mada, a card or Apple Pay, and the payment reaches your dashboard with its status.
- No catalogue, no stock, no shipping, no interface to design.
- The page carries your business name, so nobody wonders who they are paying.
- The link goes wherever your customers already are: a chat, a story, a profile bio.
- Every payment belongs to a customer, so a customer record builds itself.
Three common shapes
- A service priced after a conversation — create a link for the agreed amount and send it while the intent is still warm.
- A deposit and a balance — two links: one at booking, one at delivery. Each with its own description, so the ledger still makes sense six months later.
- A monthly membership or package — not a payment link but a subscription, which saves the card and renews on schedule.
What you need to start
- 1Create an account and use test mode immediately: make a link and pay it with a test card to see the whole journey.
- 2Prepare the verification documents: commercial registration or freelance document, owner identity, activity licence, national address, VAT certificate when applicable, and a matching IBAN certificate.
- 3Submit them. The normal review target is within 24 hours, and anything that needs correcting appears as a clear note in the dashboard.
- 4Once you are live, send your first real link and watch the first settlement on the settlements page.
And if you already have a website
A link works alongside a site rather than against it: send it to the people you spoke to directly, and leave the site to the people who buy on their own. If you want to integrate, the API and MCP create links, subscriptions and refunds and deliver webhooks using the same objects you see in the dashboard.
Common questions
- Can I accept mada without a website?
- Yes. The payment page is hosted by Nalpay and accepts mada, Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay when enabled, without you owning a site.
- Does this work for selling on Instagram or Snapchat?
- Yes, and it is the most common use: you post the link or send it in a direct message, and the customer pays from their browser without leaving their phone.
- Do I need a card reader?
- No. The payment happens on the customer's own device through the link, so no terminal is needed and the customer does not have to be standing in front of you.
- How do I know who has paid and who has not?
- Every link has a status: awaiting payment, paid, failed or refunded. The links page shows all of them, and a customer's page shows their history with you.
